My neighbors down the hill did some work on their picket fence a few months ago and left some painted 2×4 ends out with a sign that read “Free! Use your Imagination”
Well when it comes to bits of scrap wood I have a lot of imagination, so I took the 2x4s and cut them into 3/4″ square lengths, then I cut them at a 45 degree angle twice (once for a right angle to make a square and once to make a right angle to make a cube).
Then I made little slats to make the walls of the box. It’s a simple design, dado-ed grooves to hold the slats so they’re still loose, and it feels kind of like a basket but it’s definitely a box… So I decided to call it a “boxket” kind of a box/basket hybrid:
