Lamp #4 is in the Wild!

It’s been a few weeks since I got the idea to melt down old drink cups to make lampshades with scrap wood. I played with plastic, paper models, failed prototypes and finally got something I feel is “production quality.” And I’m happy to say that Lisa, the owner at Brut Wine Bar felt it was ready too!

The design style of the bar is sort of “industrial glam” so I wasn’t sure if my craftsman style light fixture was going to work, but the rough nature of the wood with the classic shape looks great at the end of the bar, giving a little warm glow to the corner.

I’m not sure who was happier, Lisa for finally getting a lamp on her bar, or me watching how pleased she was with the final product. I hadn’t really thought about the fact that it was also the monthly Astoria Art Walk, but it was sort of like an extra gift that I got to show off my first “real” light fixture accidentally as an artist would have a release party.

Thank you to Lisa and Brut, it was an awesome way to see people seeing the result of all that work!
