Description
Hewn (well, cut with a skill saw) from a 4×8 timber, this solid piece of wood creates a smaller base for the Craftsman light fixture. The lampshade is made from melting and forming single-use plastic drink cups into the organic panels and scrap wood pulled from our 100 year old house in Astoria Oregon.
And yes, when I say “forming plastic drink cups” I mean taking old Starbucks iced latte cups, plastic to go containers and other Number 5 plastics and melting them in an old toaster oven. I then press that melted plastic flat and the end result is almost like Mica, it’s amazingly organic and beautiful and doesn’t feel like plastic at all, AND it keeps it all out of the landfill.
